Alicja Seledec is an independent curator and art writer who was born in Lublin, Poland, and raised in Chicago, USA, where she currently resides. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in History of Art and Architecture at the University of Barcelona in Spain. Her final thesis, Constelaciones Curatoriales (translation: Curatorial Constellations), contextualizes the concept of “constellation” within an analysis of experimental contemporary curatorial practices.

Her curatorial work uses intuitive and experimental procedures that adapt to each exhibition. She platforms artists by prioritizing collaboration, public engagement, and illuminating multifaceted concepts. She has developed various curatorial projects in collaboration with Fulton Street Collective, Bridgeport Art Center, and the Research House of Asian Art. Currently, she is a contracted Lead Curator at the Chicago Grand Gallery. Her most recent exhibition, Echo Mutation, explores intuitive art-making across multiple mediums. She continues to refine her curatorial methods with forthcoming projects.

Seledec experiments with a creative approach to art criticism. Her satirical commentary on the art world was published by the independent newspaper in Barcelona, The Posttraumatic, with articles like “A Conversation: A Featuring Alexander Nachkebiya” in 2022 and “Duchamp’s Fountain: The Immersive Experience” in 2023. She is currently developing a weekly exhibition review project, Percieve with Caution, which explores an intimate tone to art critique. Her curatorial writing reflects this tone while prioritizing public engagement and clarity.
